Ms. Lily Ho
Principal
DEAR DENTON AVENUE SCHOOL FAMILIES,
My name is Lily Ho and I am honored to be selected as the new Principal at Denton Avenue School. It brings me great joy to serve the Denton Avenue family and have the privilege of supporting, encouraging and celebrating your children each and every day.
Eserian Nakera, is a traditional greeting of the Maasai East African tribe, which translates to "And how are the children?" The traditional response is, "All the children are well." This greeting deeply embedded in the lives of all Maasai reflect their recognition that a prosperous society is one that prioritizes the happiness, health and safety of children, or the next generation. I believe as the Maasai do, that the metric of success is the success of our children!
As a lifelong champion for children, it is for this reason that my goal is to maintain a positive and safe learning environment that allows all learners to flourish in their unique way through the shared knowledge and creativity of our students, staff and families. This philosophy has guided me since I began my career 17 years ago in the New York City Department of Education. In that time I taught special education, computer science and served as an Assistant Principal in a 3K to Grade 5 elementary school before joining Denton Avenue. I am thrilled to continue to passionately serve the Denton Avenue community as we build upon our historic excellence together.
My door is always open. I welcome your conversation and collaboration. I look forward to celebrating our collective successes during the 2024-2025 school year. Together in partnership, I believe we will say, "All the children are well."
With Gratitude,
Ms. Lily Ho
